WHAT IS MEDIATION?
Divorce mediation is where the parties agree(or judge requires them) to hire a mediator approved by the court to mediate
the case because they have been unable to come to an agreement. The parties and any attorneys hired by either party
would usually go to the mediators office (another attorney) and work out a settelement if possible. The mediator is not
representing either party and will give an impartial opinion concerning each issue as to what would be a fair settelement in
consideration of the applicable law.Generally he or she may say what they think a judge might likely do if the case was
tried concerning various situations this often settles an otherwise difficult situation. I believe it is a good alternative to a
contested divorce. It seems to work well if the parties can both make rational decisions based on the facts of their
situation. It does not work well if one of the parties will only make decisions based on how they feel
